The Frankfort Public Library District (FPLD) has a Glowforge Pro CO2 Laser Cutter that is used for Library programs and patron projects. FPLD cardholders who wish to have a design cut or engraved may submit a request using the form below.
What is a Glowforge?
A Glowforge is a CNC laser cutter and engraver that uses a laser to cut, engrave, or score materials such as wood and acrylic. The Glowforge can make cuts or engravings based on designs supplied as digital files.
What does it cost?
Please see the Lab Material Fees sheet to view the current available materials and prices. The Library will provide an estimated cost prior to cutting or engraving your design.
Are there any restrictions on laser cutting/engraving?
Only Proofgrade brand acrylic or plywood may be used in the FPLD Glowforge.
The maximum printable area is approximately 11 in (27.9 cm) deep and 19.5 in (49.5 cm) wide for cutting, and somewhat smaller for engraving or scoring.
The Library will not produce laser cut or engraved projects that take longer than one hour to complete.
Where do I get ideas or designs for laser cutting/engraving?
