You may not know this about your local librarian, but, yes, I am an avid gamer. I obsess and drool over the upcoming video games, and, being the one who purchases games for the library, I see all the upcoming games. It's my job to fawn over the upcoming titles so that I can purchase them for the library, right? (Note to you: librarian as career is the best kept secret of the professional world.)
With this in mind, usually the fall is a huge release time for all kinds of amazing things, including books that I'm dying to read (such as Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan [Oct. 2nd], The Crimson Crown by C.W. Chima [Oct. 23rd], Feedback [the sequel to Variant] by Robison Wells [Oct. 2nd], and Hidden by Sophie Jordan [Sept. 11]!!!). It is also time for new games to come out that are going to be epic. Here are the games I'm most looking forward to and that I have already ordered for the library!
Assassin's Creed III available on both PS3 and Xbox 360
I cannot wait for this game. It looks like it will take place during the Revolutionary War era in colonial England! So you'll see people like Ben Franklin and such. What a great time period for an Assassin's Creed game with all the political intrigue. It's going to be epic, including naval battle scenes! Hello, awesomeness.
Rating pending, but most likely M for mature.
Release date November 23rd, 2012.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 available on both PS3 and Xbox 360.
This highly anticipated addition to the COD franchise will take place in part in the '70s and in part in 2025. Zombie mode will make a reappearance as well! Woo-hoo for zombie scariness.
Rating pending, but most likely M for Mature.
Release date November 13th, 2012.

Halo 4 available on Xbox 360
Master Chief is back for Halo 4. The game will feature a new kind of multiplayer with specializations. What, what? Apparently the start of a new trilogy, Master Chief is in for some new shenangins!
Rating pending, but most likely M for Mature.
Release date November 6th, 2012.
Resident Evil 6 available on PS3 and Xbox 360
The latest edition of the RE franchise will feature 4 separate campaigns, I hear, including the latest confirmed Ada Wong character's campaign. I've heard mixed things about this game, but the mysterious Ada Wong character looks like the most exciting thing about it to me!
Rating pending, but most likely M for Mature.
Release date October 2nd, 2012.
Those are just a few of the exciting releases coming up. Also, the Wii U is supposed to be released this year, as well, so keep your eyes out for that. As for younger kids games, the most buzzed game I've heard about lately is Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, which will be out November 20th, 2012 (and looks like an E-T game to me).
And what about games for spring? There's one that's got a lot of buzz and controversy around it, and that's the new Tomb Raider. This game is due out March 5, 2013, and the controversy about what the game developers have or have not said about the attacks on Lara just add to the fire here, but the new and (in my opinion) improved Lara Croft is going to rock the house for sure.
Lots and lots of games to drool over, friends, so be ready. I know I am.
Also, look for my gaming tournament for teens in November (note: post Black Ops 2 and Halo 4 release dates, so we'll likely play one of these games!).
