About Us - Circulation FAQ

You should report a lost, missing, or stolen card immediately to the circulation desk. Materials checked out on your card become your responsibility. The replacement fee for a lost card is $2.00. Proof of residency is required at the time of issuance.

Items can be returned in the outside drop boxes at any time, or the inside drop box when the library is open.

Please check games out at the front desk. The discs are kept at the front desk.

A self service fax machine is located in the library for patrons to send faxes. This machine does not accept incoming faxes. Faxes are $1.50 for the first page and $1.00 for each subsequent page within the USA.

You can pay by credit card or stop at the front desk to pay cash or personal check for a prepaid fax card. The prepaid fax cards are sold by the number of pages you are sending up to 6 pages. For faxes over 6 pages you will have to purchase multiple fax cards, so paying by credit card is recommended.

The Frankfort Public Library District offers voter registration through our Deputy Voter Registrars. Please ask for them at the Circulation Desk. There are times that a Deputy Voter Registrar may not be available, so please call ahead. See the Will County Clerk’s Website for the forms of identification required to register to vote.

You now have the capability to “Freeze Holds”. Once frozen, this functionality allows your hold to continue to move up through the hold queue without actually filling the hold. Once the hold reaches the number 1 position in the hold queue the item will remain at the top of the hold queue, but not generate a hold until you “Unfreeze” the holds to allow your requests to be filled. This functionality is perfect for holds that may arrive while you are on vacation.

To freeze a hold click on Check My Account at the top left of our website. Go to your list of holds, click on the freeze button (on the right of the title) and then click on the update button.

To “unfreeze” a hold click on the freeze button to remove the check mark and then click on the update button.

You can reset your pin online if you have an e-mail associated with your account. At the log-in screen, click on Forgot Your Pin. It will bring up a screen that prompts you to enter your name and library card barcode. Once you hit the submit button, an e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address on file.

Then, check your e-mail for one with the subject Library catalog PIN reset request. The e-mail contains a link to change your pin. This link is active for 3 hours.

If you do not have an e-mail associated with your online account, please call the Circulation Desk at 815-469-2423, and we will clear your pin. All pins are encrypted, so we do not know your pin. Once we clear your pin, log into your account. Enter the requested information: name, library card number and pin. When you hit submit, the system will prompt you to enter your pin twice and submit again. Now your new pin has been set.

The Museum Adventure Pass program allows Frankfort cardholders to check out one Museum Pass per family on an adult Frankfort library card. We do not need the passes back; the museums will collect them. The museums may require the patron to present identification or their library card along with the pass. Passes expire automatically in 7 days, and there are no renewals. Passes are given out on a first come first serve basis and are in a limited quantity. For popular attractions, check on the availability of the passes by calling the Circulation Desk at 815-469-2423. Each museum pass is different; check on the Museum Adventure website for all of the details http://museumadventure.org.
