Don't increase taxes. We are taxed to death. Sorry you haven't passed an increase in 39 years, but LW area isn't responsible. Can't afford it

Bring back the Bookmobile.
Bring back the book mobile
More recent technology/coding books. Software development is gaining lots of popularity and new software development books are highly sought after yet seldomly available.
Switch back to the Dewey Decimal System!
Move the book return slot to wall closer to the parking lot
Please put more stacks in the new section of the library. The bottom and top shelves do not work for me. I want more books, not fewer, and they need to be shelves for the convenience of the patrons.
I like the art classes, don't raise the tax rate, I don't know about the downloadable section, never heard of it.
Increase selection audio books. Keep "new" books on tape selection more current.
I would not like to see the ,CD collection discontinued. I enjoy finding new music and like the physical CD
More copies of popular books
Give us back the ability to return books while sitting in our cars. Every time I have to park and walk in the freezing weather on ice to return a book I am upset and feel like I should use another library that cares about their patrons.
Sunday hours in the summer please
I wish there was a way to know if books are safe for a child to read based on content. Like the rating system for movies. Not really a library district issue.
As said above, the library is losing focus and suffering from a severe case of scope creep. The library has expanded beyond what is needed--so many expensive meeting rooms, and now you want to increase the taxes. Please consider spending our taxes only on books, as that is what the library is for. We DON'T need programs, speakers, exercise, parties, art market, classes (other than learning to navigate the library itself both physically and electronically), events, etc.--this is what we are paying tax dollars to the park district for. We don't need more of those things or expenses at the Library. Just keep the focus and expenditures on books, physical and downloadable. That's it.
Make a drive though book return, should have been done when you updated it
Offer Tumblebooks online for those who have a library card. It's a great resource for young ones!!!
Expand hours. They r called holiDAYS not holiweeks. Do you really need 2 people chatting at the desk when most people are checking out their own books? Why did you get rid of the book drop by the parking lot? Too lazy to walk outside and get the books? Non-fiction shelving system is ridiculos. Books are hard to find. Maybe a help button at section desks like they have in some stores would be useful since there is often no one there when you need help. You ask for help at the front desk and they refer you to an empty desk.
Let users pay for the services the us. Non-users need not foot the bill.
I would like the Dewey decimal system back. Trying to find a specific book is extremely difficult, I do not like this book store type of system. The library having all these different type of systems is very confusing. Children's and young adults with Dewey decimal and adults with this different type is (lack of better word) stupid. Are you trying to say the adults in this area are stupid and can't find a book? Also , our small and outdated book collections are embarrassing. Most the books I want to read need to be bought in from other libraries or I need to go to another library to get the book. This is such a prosperous area and you wouldn't know it by our library.
I don't use the library for everyday use, mostly for my book club meetings. However, I'm looking towards getting a library card so I can have more access to the books I need for my group.
Acquire more books
Dropping off books in the book return outside the library is definitely not as convenient as the drive-up drop off used to be. I miss it!
We would appreciate a quiet atmosphere. It's a loud place/workers & patrons
Everyone is very helpful would like to see more art classes and cooking demo
Customer service training for the circulation desk.
I am very concerned about the loss of new CD titles and the mess that is currently the CD section, downloadable, streamed music quality is very poor, despised by audiophile standards. I would like to see new CD releases, high quality mastered Cds (such as Mobile Fidelity or SACD) and a cleaned up CD rack area in ALPHABETICAL order. I would also like to see Bluray and DVD in separate order, so the lower DVD format does not have to be looked at.I would also like to see the new 4kUltra format be introduced. Also rent times for books need to be increased. Also have you ever walked around the crab apple tree in the summer?? Cut that thing down!!!
Continue the practice of adding new music CD's to the library collection. I was told they have been discontinued because people get their music on line. That is like discontinuing the addition of new books because people buy books from Amazon. I have paid taxes to the district for over 30 years and was never asked my opinion about discontinuing the CD collection.
The last thing we need is another tax increase. Yes, while your rate has remained the same for many years, your revenue has increased proportionate to our population. Many in our community will work to defeat a referendum for a tax increase if it is proposed.
Handle political and military items ina more even handed manner. Too many anti- or hostile to government and military books. A problem because of the biases taught in the colleges.
I have found that I will start reading a series via e-books and the library will not continue to purchase the remaining books when they come out. It is frustrating.
Charge people outside the district for computer usage, like Tinkey Park, who charges us, and vonyinue yo give Frabkgort residents who have a library card priority when classes are offered. Continue to offer the variety of lectures & classes you often ptovide.
FF library sucks compared to all the surrounding ones get some damn books and people that know what they're doing because it is a POS and stop wasting my money on that joke.
I would like to see more variety and content in the fantasy and science fiction sections of the adult collection to read.
More lectures, such as the one about Picasso when his work was being shown at the art institute.
It's set up inside is not a pleasant environment. The esthetics are not likable. It's dark and the paint colors not pleasing. Ideas from other local libraries should of been considered...Tinley, Flossmoor, Orland...much nicer.
Very satisfied
Drive up book drop off
Keep up the great work
More author visits and lectures
Bigger selection of materials at the library and digital ebooks.
Dedication and investment in today's youth in any fashion at the FPLD, I would eagerly support!
I think it's terrible that you removed the drive-up drop off box outside and are now forcing every patron to get out of their car and walk up to the building to the building to return borrowed materials. Instead of inconveniencing on of your staff to go outside to pick up the returns, you have chose to inconvenience every one else. I think you ought to arrange a drive up box where the patron doesn't have to leave their vehicle to return materials.
Expand the ebooks and downloadable titles, which is how I prefer to use the library. Also, as a graduate student, earlier hours on Sunday are preferable. Thank you! I love the library!
I would love to see a curb side book return bin return. Also, my family greatly missed the book mobile this past summer. If fiscally possible, we would be so happy to have the book mobile again.
Offer guest speakers and events
Put chapter book audio books with the actual books to check out together for 1st-5th grade.
The biggest must haves for me are a larger selection of materials (I have to do too many inter library loans and wait quite a while for materials) and creating a drive up material deposit (I'm usually with my infants and can't run out of the car to deposit books).
This is not a suggestion on improvements but wanted to say how much my family enjoys the programs that are held for youth. From the weekly story times to the special events in the summer they are fabulous and something we regularly attend. I hope they continue and are held frequently. Thank you for all you do for the youth programs.
Enforce quiet areas. Not located near children. And info desk. An area for breaks to talk, get a snack.. I like how materials on current topics are pulled (curated) and displayed.
Expand the play area ( more toys/puzzles/space) inspect childrens dvd's-so many are scratched/ lock up.
Maybe offer a type of summer camp?
move at least two computers to the front entrance to provide access to people with physical limitations, and reduce wasted space in the back of the library by closing off and creating study rooms for small groups, and increase the number of private study rooms. I use Orland Public Library frequently because Frankfort does not have enough study rooms and limits time of use. Too bad 🙁
Improve and simplify the SWANN library loan system. It should be forst come first serve regardless of where the request comes from.
I know this is controversial but the Board did a huge dis-service by removing the natural garden space to the south of the building. Also the parking lot may be larger but somehow still does not seem convenient. I love the book sale in the barn but the books STINK from being in the damp building. LOW priority but maybe ventilation in the future.
While there are some, there's not a lot of activities for young kids that are toddler age. It would be nice if there was an activity offered every week. From what I have seen on the website, this is not the case.
The search engine on the website for Blu-Ray/DVD's can be greatly improved. I'd like to see more Blu-Ray DVD's and have more selection of downloadable movies. I'd also like to see more activities for kids in the evenings, not just pajama story time. I would like to say that the library expansion is terrific.
When you go and visit Tinley, Joliet, or New Lenox, their displays are bright and cheerful like you are walking into a Barnes & Nobles. All facilities also offer a coffee cafe. That is a huge priority, in my opinion.
My children would love to have a 3-D printer session.
my husband and I love our library and are amazed with what it offers
Keep acquiring books on CD. I love to listen in my car.
Is there room to add more book shelves?
more modern website - consider free WordPress. Market to tweens/teens using instagram and Snapchat. Use small, quick videos to tell them about services/events/book of the month. Challenge kids of all ages to complete a book, then share with 3 people with a short summary on social media. Teach middle schoolers and high schoolers how to use the internet safely, to their advantage, to help them have a positive online profile.
Update your collection of books! New books and more of them!
Provide a means to order copies of very technical journal articles.
More paperbacks.
Purchase audio books on MP3 - 100% of the players/cars etc have this format for the past 10-15 years. I'm sure they take up less shelf space!
You do a wonderful job of providing such a variety of services to the community and your cardholders. I trust your judgement to augmenting these services.
I'm extremely please with our library and all the employees and at this time, I can't think of a way to improve it.
The Library district already takes too big a bite out of a Senior's budget. Eliminate FPLD taxation of library as a proprty tax line item!
how can one improve excellence
A drive through book/media return would be helpful. That way if I had kids in my car I wouldn't have to get them out.
Love love love our hometown library and will support them however we can!
Get more book shelves and shelves with backs to them
Broader selection of digital magazine titles. Downloadable music and video would reduce need for keeping physical copies.
MORE CURRENT LARGE PRINT
Drive through pick up
Offer a way to return items by drive up car, not parking & walking in bad weather
Way more graphic novels! Youth and adult. Keep up with series purchasing. Don't just buy the first few and never buy the rest. Please.
Would like to see more CD audio books
Drive up book/material return
When I lived in Rochester New York, they had an art collection (not expensive, just reproductions of stuff, but all were framed). We could check a picture or two out just like we do the books and we could hang it on our wall at home for a week or so and then take it back to the library and get another. It was quite nice and very popular.
Expansion of physical space and collections.
More audio book series availability and more in each series.

Ability to borrow older video games longer (to be able to even renew it once).

The DVD movie section of the library is too small. It is difficult for me to stand and search through the stacks of DVD's. It is even more difficult to look through the DVD's which are kept on the shelves which are close to the floor. Ideally, it would be great if all DVD's were on shelves which were only waist high and higher, with the front of the DVD case facing toward the library patron. In another vein, I would clarify the terminology on the website where one places an item on hold. I do not know what "Permalink" is, and when I asked the librarian, she didn't know either. Perhaps a change could be made so that when you hover your computer mouse over a word a pop-up would appear with an explanation of that word (or phrase).
When I commented to a FPL employee that I didn't like the change in where the book drop was located, I was told that it was inconvenient for the FPL employees to have to go outside to get the books. I believe you would get more community support if your employees were more concerned about what was convenient for your customers than what is convenient for themselves. - Just a thought.
Open on Sunday year round, please
if anything the tax rate should be lowered since there are more homes and business in Frankfort and the assessed values keep rising which means you get more money. Stop the madness of consonantly increasing taxation at all levels of government and the public schools.
I would really love to see reading programs throughout the year (like the summer reading programs) or an expansion on the ebook collection onedrive. Thanks!
your quite areas need to be quite which they are not
Continue more learning classes and read class for young and toddler and school starting children.
Eliminate the two bottom shelves. Lower the heat. Have more copies of the
best sellers. Have more copies of the Staff Picks (a great idea).
Keep up the good work. I don't have young children or young adults living here so some of the questions didn't seem relevant to me. The great thing I like is the the Library makes a modest library a huge library with its inter library system.
Would use Dewey decimal system.
When accessing my account, I would like to be able to change my user name and password to something I can remember. There are times I accumulate fines because I can't access account at leisure. I need to have my library card handy. Ex: I emptied my wallet of non necessary cards when going out of the country only to remember my children had 30+ books due 2 days into our 14 day trip. : (
You do a fine job.
Based on the number of young children in our district, I am surprised the addition did not provide a specific space for them? My children are older now, but I rarely brought them to this library as they had to be so quiet when choosing books, etc as they are housed in an open space right next to the shared computer spaces. Some of our favorite libraries have a closed in space, where young families could gather and interact. I met our first friends in Michigan at our library and gathered there several times a week for programs and socializing. I am also surprised you sold the Book Mobile. What a nice treat that was for our district. We used it often.
would love to have a fire place to sit next to and a better outdoor reading area
I can't offer too much in improving .The librarians you have are the best and they should be given the highest compliment. this isn't just a job its something they love to do.
